Yankees June 9-11 (vs. Louisville Bats)

My favorite Louisville player is their primary catcher, Corky (somebody... Miller, maybe?)  Just check out that facial hair!

This little throwing error by an outfielder resulted in an easy run, here.

Everyone but the runner is looking at the outfielder try to put his hands on the ball.  He succeeded after some difficulty.

It occurred to me that I have been focusing on the players, and yet every game there are three guys out there working as hard or harder than the players - umpires!   So, occasionally, I'll try to grab a good shot of an umpire doing his job.  Here he's calling a strike.

Now this next play was fun.  It looked like a simple throw out at home - but the defensive player in the picture is the pitcher.  As a pitcher, he's trained to be very careful of his physical well-being.  Thus, he didn't "own" the plate the way the catchers do.  This Yank slid under the tag and wound up safe.

Only a few pics here.  I shot a whole bunch in the 3 or 4 inning I stuck around.  However, many are similar to previous shots, and I'm trying to keep this fresh for all of us.

This was a bit of fresh air... the manager arguing with the ump.  Not sure how much the ump deserved it, but he had called the third strike with no swing a strike, and the manager's frustration found a boiling point.  He obviously had enough self-control not to get thrown out.

This is just good shortstop play

I love the stop-motion aspect of this.  He's hit the ball hard and is headed for first.  Didn't make it before he was thrown out.  Also didn't make it without creating a nice image for me.  ;)

I only stayed a short time, but I got a couple good shots.  I decided to process them pretty thoroughly just to see how they would come out.
